Leveraging data and analytics to improve supply chain sustainability efforts for amfori’s 2400 members spanning 40 countries.
Changing the world is no easy feat. But when the United Nations issued its plan to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the planet by outlining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve by 2030, people across sectors, geographies and cultures stepped up to meet the challenge. To make sure their more than 2,400 retailers, importers, brands and associations across 40 countries had the tools they needed to monitor supply chain performance and its impact on contributions towards SDGs, amfori tapped Deloitte to help get a better understanding of their data and analytics landscape.
“When you get the opportunity to create a positive environmental impact in global supply chains, working on a project becomes all the more inspiring.”
amfori’s former Director of IT Alain Paumen reached out to Yves Toninato, Senior Director, Deloitte Belgium to take a closer look. Yves led the initial analytics environment assessment, “I quickly realized that they needed to build a completely new analytics platform from scratch. What started as a quick review of their analytics turned into building amfori’s Sustainability platform and the migration to cloud.”
“Working on a project like this is all I could ask for. When you get the opportunity to create a positive environmental impact in global supply chains, working on a project becomes all the more inspiring,” shared project team member Benjamin Hirsch, consultant, Deloitte Belgium.
“Whether someone contributes to the Sustainability Platform, infuses AI capabilities, or devises the overarching Data Strategy, we all feel a sense of pride.”
Yves continued, “We have built a platform providing amfori’s members with a clear and complete view on their performance in terms of the SDGs across the entire supply chain.”
The new platform was a game changer. But with a more robust analytics environment, it became evident a more defined data strategy was needed. Building on their existing relationship, amfori brought on the Deloitte team for a strategic growth exercise focused on identifying new and existing data services that incorporated the voice of amfori’s members and partners.
Today, the Deloitte and amfori teams work together across many different business units. For Yves, it’s evident that there is one thing that connects everyone in this diverse team: “Whether someone contributes to the Sustainability Platform, infuses AI capabilities, or devises the overarching Data Strategy, we all feel a sense of pride. We contribute to more than improving business results. It’s about enabling others to amplify their sustainable impact. For us, it defines what trading with purpose is all about. A win-win.”
