John has more than 34 years of experience in the professional service industry.
He is a partner in Tokyo and also Deloitte Global Payroll Operate Services Leader.
John started his career in the Japanese Services Group at Price Waterhouse, based in Honolulu. He moved to Japan in 1994 to further his career. In 2001, he set up his own accounting firm in Tokyo, serving as the Representative Director and/or outside board member for over 150 foreign companies and special-purpose vehicles. After selling his firm to the TMF Group in 2009, he stayed with the firm and became Managing Director of TMF Japan until September 2017, before leaving to join Ernst & Young as a partner.
He became a partner at Deloitte Tohmatsu Tax Co. October 2019.
John is an expert in advising and helping multinational companies navigating complex legal, tax, human resources transformation and processing and general business practices in Japan, as well as creating large-scale human resources and payroll processing platforms.
