“I think it’s great to work at Deloitte if you want to change the world and if you’re looking to learn from role models and top professionals.”
Meet Elia. She leads the IT Merger & Acquisitions (M&A) practice at Deloitte France, where she serves Deloitte’s global network advising corporate and private-equity clients with their investments regarding IT, Technology and Cyber. She’s passionate about helping people and companies make the right choices and ensuring they have the right expertise on hand to do so.
Elia leads a team that helps clients understand the value of their technology infrastructure, guiding and preparing them to navigate how it can impact a potential transaction. With over 20 years of experience in technology, and after advising hundreds of transactions, Elia has a steady finger on the pulse of the global economy. But it’s her understanding of the increased value of the human side of things that makes her a trusted advisor by her teams, partners, and clients. “It’s not only figures and results, it’s a lot about caring—for our teams, our people, and for our clients,” Elia says. “The ability to create a relationship with people and help them navigate a complex and everchanging world, it’s very rewarding.”
“We all talk about the rise of technology, but someone has to make that happen,” says Elia. She encourages her team to “bring their vision of the world to life” and notes her excitement about the changes technology brings across the globe, including the power it has to elevate crucial voices of diversity. “As a woman, bringing my own ideas and expressing myself in a male-dominated world has been a source of satisfaction,” she says. “I think having more women, and more diversity overall, provides an enormous advantage and it’s key to shape the future of the world.” There’s no question in her mind about the value of diversity in her practice. Citing her own experience, Elia notes that it’s often the interpersonal skills of the many empowered women she works with that set them apart. “There are a lot of exchanges with clients, and each one brings together diverse backgrounds, ways of thinking, and perspectives.”
Elia encourages others to seek strong expertise and mentoring. “This will play a lifetime role in your career, and I think that the early years are paramount to that experience. Keep your eye on the ball and trust yourself because a career opens so many perspectives. You can express yourself in many ways.”
